Who we are
Our chapter includes authors and illustrators who are at various stages of their careers from those who’ve had several books published to those who are not-as-yet published. Though most of our chapter’s participants write or illustrate children’s books, others create material for kids in other formats (ie. magazines, music, film, television, storytelling, and theatre).
We aim to :
- Strengthen the voice and influence of Quebec’s children’s entertainment creators
- Increase the number of our province’s CANSCAIP members
- Expand the visibility of our chapter and its participants via involvement and appearances at book festivals as well as at teacher, literacy, library, and reading conferences held locally, out-of-province, and in the U.S.
In January 2007, a Montreal children’s literature enthusiast began hosting monthly get-togethers as a way of bringing local children’s authors and illustrators together.
Two years later, in January 2009, this group became Yes Oui CANSCAIP, the official Quebec chapter of CANSCAIP (Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators & Performers) based in Toronto.
