SPEAKERS

Belle Brute is the Montreal-based creative duo of Marianne Chevalier and Vincent Gagnon. Since 2011, they have written and illustrated 9 children books, packed with colourful and unique creatures.

 

Anita Daher has published eight thrilling novels for young readers, with three more due out this year and next. Her first picture book, Itty Bitty Bits, will be published in June.

 

Jennifer Gasoi, a two-time Juno nominee and multiple-award winning singer/songwriter/producer, is passionate about creating music that inspires kids and adults alike to follow their heart and live life to the fullest.

 

Marie-Louise Gay is an author-illustrator who has written and/or illustrated more than sixty books for children from board books and picture books to novels for middle-grade readers. She lives in Montréal.

 

Rachna Gilmore is the best-selling, critically-acclaimed author of over twenty books with multiple honours and awards including the Governor General’s Award for the picture book, A Screaming Kind of Day.

 

Anna Goodson is the president and founder of Anna Goodson Management, a contemporary creative boutique representing some of the most prominent illustrators from around the world. AGM works with leading advertising agencies, design firms, magazines, publishers and newspapers from around the globe.

 

Mireille Goulet is a dynamic lawyer and McGill university graduate who has specialized in copyright and business law for more than fifteen years. She was the first woman elected as vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Chambre de Commerce de la Rive Sud de Montréal.

 

Christie Harkin is the children’s book publisher and editor at Fitzhenry & Whiteside. Fitz Kids publishes literary fiction, from picture books to teen novels, as well as non-fiction titles.

 

Amanda Kellock is a Montreal-based director, writer, actor and teacher who holds a BFA in Theatre and Development and an MFA in Directing. She works with many theatre companies and schools in and around Montreal, especially Playwrights’  Workshop Montreal and Geordie Productions.

 

Mona Kiame is a program officer at the Canada Council for the Arts. Working in its Writing and Publishing Section since 1998, she has been responsible, primarily, for the Literary Readings and Author Residencies Program.

 

Patricia Ocampo was a children’s book editor at HarperCollins US and Canada, and is past president of the Canadian chapter of The International Board on Books for Young People. She joined The Transatlantic Literary Agency in 2010, specializing in children’s books.

 

Monique Polak is the author of 13 novels for young adults. She is also an active journalist who teaches English, including a course on Writing for Children, at Marianopolis College.

 

Alan Silberberg His book, Milo, won the SCBWI Sid Fleischman Humor Award and the QWF Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize. His new book, The Awesome Almost 100% True Adventures Of Matt & Craz, was published in April.

 

Suana Verelst is an illustrator-fine artist originally from Antwerp, Belgium and has illustrated several children’s books for local and international publishers. Among other awards, she recently won Le Prix TD de littérature canadienne pour l’enfance et jeunesse for her illustrations in La Saison des Pluies.
